Holland Helping THRIVE Conejo
Bring Inclusive
Education to CVUSD

Lee Ann Holland is the leader of THRIVE Conejo, a grassroots group that launched in October 2017 with the mission of bringing inclusive education to Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD). Through direct advocacy, community events, and partnership with district and community leaders, parents, teachers, and administrators, THRIVE has helped create change and shift the mindset toward the inclusion of students with disabilities.

Lee Ann’s road to advocacy for people with disabilities began when she was searching for more inclusive opportunities for her own daughter, a middle-schooler who is neurodivergent. Currently, she is serving as the Chair of the CVUSD Advisory Council and the Vice Chair of the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Community Advisory Committee.

Siegel Introduces Common Bonds
As Braver
Angels Ambassador

Michael Siegel, a retired physician living in Venice, California, is the former Blue Coordinator for the Braver Angels Southern California Super Alliance. He now serves as a Braver Angels Ambassador, introducing the organization to others.

He joined Braver Angels at the beginning of 2021 concerned about the growing political divide sweeping across the country. From his activities in Braver Angels and one-on-one conversations with individuals from the “other side,” Siegel found that, although he disagreed with many of their positions, he had more in common with them than previously thought. In addition, as they learned more about each other’s lives, their stereotypes of each other began to diminish. This experience has made Siegel eager to introduce Braver Angels to others.
